Wallace and Gromit win BAFTA!
On Sunday night the British Academy of Film and Television Arts gave our their film awards and the Alexander Korda Award for Outstanding British Film went to none other than the fabulous "Wallace and Gromit: the Curse of the Wererabbit," beating out such films as "Pride and Prejudice" and "The Constant Gardener."
Other awards given out that night included:
Best Picture - Brokeback Mountain
Best Director - Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain)
Best Actor - Philip Seymore Hoffman (Capote)
Best Actress - Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line)
Both Hoffman and Witherspoon were already viewed as the front runners to win Academy Awards for their performances this year, At this point, I would be very surprised if they don't both go home with Oscars as well.
As for Wallace and Gromit, they will probably win the Oscar for Best Animated Film this year, which would make me very happy if only they were not competing against "Howl's Moving Castle," the most recent film by Hayao Miyazaki (i.e my favorite living director).
A complete list of BAFTA winners can be found here.
